breast enlargements

Breast enlargements using Silicon implants.

The operation simultaneously increases the size and improves the shape of the breast. The patient consults a Doctor who assesses the shape and symmetry of the breast. Not all breasts can be operated on using Silicon implants. Breasts which hang too much or very assymetric breasts cannot have implant operations, but they can undergo a Breast Uplift operation and have an implant at a later stage. In the last 15 years our clinic has done at least 5000 breast enlargement operations.

Silicon implants are not harmful to your body. The implants that we use are also used for reconstructive surgery after breast cancer operations. We only use certified English or American or French implants (Mentor, Nagor and Sebbin).

After breast implantation, studies have shown that the number of patients who develop breast cancer is less than that for people who have not had implants because those with implants are required to attend regular checks (eg. ultrasound) on a yearly basis.

We use Silicon implants which are textured witha round and anatomical shape and with different profiles. On the day of the operation the Doctor who is consulted will plan with you the shape, size, profile and perhaps the necessity for correction of assymmetry.

The patient states her expectations and the Doctors compare this with the anatomical and technical possibilities, the proportions of the whole body. This is the most important part of planning for the whole operation. The understanding between the patient and the Doctor has tremendous impact on the operation and its effect (all Doctors at the clinic speak fluent English). The operation is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes approximately one hour.

The most common incision locations are on the lower border of the nipple areola or under the arm. After the undermining of the breast parenchyma we free the space under the pectoralis major muscle, where we put the implant. The wound is closed with very small stitches and we use drains which are usually removed on the 3rd or 4th day.

In our opinion using this technique gives the best results for the patient, taking into consideration health, safety and long-term effect.

The time of stay at the clinic is roughly 3 to 5 days. A patient leaving our clinic receives an International certificate of warranty for her implants. The stitches are removed after 10 days. It is necessary to wear a special bra for 6 weeks after the operation. We also recommend an ultrasound check-up 3 months after the surgery, which could be done in the U.K. We do not recommend forced exercise within 2 months after surgery.

Tests which must be carried out before the operation:

Blood cell test, APTT, blood calcium, sodium and potassium levels, general test of the urine, Ultrasound of the breasts. All these tests can be done at the clinic locally and can be carried out on the day of the operation.

If you are above 40 years of age a mammography is also necessary - the results of which you will need to bring with you, as this cannot be carried out on the day of the operation.
