breast uplifting AND REDUCTION IN SIZE |

|
Breasts which are too large on one or both sides or which hang too much are not only regarded as not beautiful but can also cause health problems. For example, unequal straining of the skeleton or problems with posture, spinal problems or back pain. Young women with too large breasts might feel disadvantaged while doing sport, dancing or while buying clothes. Too large breasts are very often connected with obesity. If you experience problems with your back and neck you might also need a consultation with a specialist orthopaedist. After the operation the patient can expect: 1. Significant lowering of breast weight. 2. Breasts should have a nice aesthetic shape in proportion to the rest of the body 3. You might be able to breast feed and have almost normal sensitivity. 4. Scars should be quite small and almost invisible. The goal of the operation is not just to reduce the size of the breast but also to make the breast more firm, to decrease the amount of the skin surface and to move the nipple area upwards. The operating technique involves a scar around the nipple areola as well as a vertical scar downwards below the areola, and sometimes in the case of very large breasts a scar at the base of the breast (= inverted letter T-shape). The operating time is approximately 2 to 3 hours, is done under general anaesthesia and requires a stay in the clinic of 3 to 5 days. For your safety we also leave drains which are usually removed on the 3rd or 4th day. Possible complications might involve infection or partial necrosis of the nipple areola. The small stitches need to be removed on the 10th or 12th day - this can be done at your Doctors surgery in the U.K.. You will be provided with a special bra which you should wear for approximately 6 weeks after the operation. Avoid excessive exercise up to 2 months after the operation.
