Nose operations are done from two approaches:
Nose operations can be done in patients who are 20 years old and above when the development of the bone structure is fully finished. The nose operation is one of the very few operations in which the final result is only apparent after approximately one year. The operation takes about one and a half hours, is done under general and local anaesthesia and requires you to stay one to two days in the clinic. After surgery we put a special thermosensitive plaster which is removed 10 days after surgery. The correction plasters will be removed after the large swelling has disappeared - usually two weeks after surgery. Quite a lot of discomfort comes from the nose tamponaid which is removed one day after surgery - this is material which is packed into the nose to prevent bleeding. After the operation there are large bruises around the eyes, nose and eyelids. After surgery you will need to moisturise and clean the nose skin as well as moisturise the mucose inside of the nose. Avoid intensive exercise, bending down, exposing the nose to frost or sunlight. Nose operations usually do not hurt afterwards and paracetemol is not usually necessary. Possible complications: not full correction of the nose shape, or infection. There can also be a temporary loss of smell.
